Guard Young Hearts
Tenafly parents now have a way to protect their student-athletes.
Tenafly parents now have a way to protect their student-athletes. The new Tenafly Protect a Heart Committee, with support from Englewood Hospital and Medical Center and the Philadelphia-based nonprofit Simon’s Fund, is offering free heart screenings for kids ages 8 to 19.
Screenings will be offered March 12 at Stillman Elementary School. The process is easy and quick—it takes about 30 minutes. You fill out a medical history form online in advance, then a clinical professional records your child’s data and completes an electrocardiogram and if necessary an echocardiogram.
Simon’s Fund has conducted more than 12,000 student heart screenings. To sign up, head to simonsfund.org, click on “Calendar,” scroll down to “Tenafly” and follow the cues.
