An Emerson musician shares good vibes and easy instruction on how to play a popular tune.
Wailing heavy riffs and grinding out loud solos doesn’t define every guitar player—though jamming like that sure is fun. For Emerson’s Miles Strand, who’s been playing from more than 20 years, showing off the instrument’s softer side is just as meaningful as sharing its rockin’ capabilities. He posted this video of himself playing Savage Garden’s “I Knew I Loved You” in his home studio last weekend, just in time for National Guitar Day on Feb. 11. “It felt like a good song for a Sunday,” says Strand, who teaches guitar from his studio and remotely via video call.
