Learn How To Bake At These Bergen Classes
Those holiday treats won’t bake themselves! Learn how to make cookies, cakes and pies at home with one of these local classes.

Starting to plan out your holiday menu yet? Don’t forget the desserts. Though store-bought treats are never a bad option (and Bergen County is home to so many great bakeries), there’s something to be said for home-baked breads, cookies, cakes and pastries that are made from scratch with extra love and care!
But if you’re not a skilled baker or are scared to try (yes, the measurements have to be just right), there are local experts who can help you perfect the art of baking. From Oct. 14-20, National Baking Week, why not book yourself or your kids one of these instructional baking classes in Bergen? Ah, we can smell the pies already…
The Crafty Kitchen in Emerson hosts a plethora of kids’ courses, and you and your kiddo can spend your October Saturdays crafting up some sweet treats. On Oct. 14 or 21 from 9:30 to 11 a.m., join their Spooky Sweet Cookie Workshop, where you’ll bake a batch of six Halloween-themed cookies, as well as an edible haunted house. Tickets are $50 for one kid and one adult.
Williams-Sonoma, with a location in Hackensack, hosts in-store cooking classes. But if it’s baking you’re looking to master, sign up for one or all of their virtual baking classes, held weekly on Mondays from Oct. 16 through Dec. 18. You can register for one for $20 each or $180 for all courses, where you’ll learn to bake Thanksgiving pies, breads and bundts, as well as holiday cookies, Linzer torte and spiced cranberry baked Alaska cake.
The Flavor Labs in Norwood recently opened a brand-new studio in Paramus, where they also offer cooking and baking classes for kids and adults. They have a few baking classes lined up for October for kids ages 6 and up at both locations, including Halloween Donuts on Oct. 24, Halloween Cupcakes on Oct. 25 and Halloween Cake Pops on Oct. 27. Pricing starts at $39, and sibling discounts are available.
