Looking for a New Flavor?
Three restaurants make their Bergen County debut—and we can’t wait to try ’em!
As backyard barbecue season slowly winds down, it’s time to head out and take advantage of Bergen County’s ever-expanding dining scene. Sure, you can return to some of your old favorites, or you can take a drive to some of the latest eateries to join the county’s roster of restaurants. If you’re looking for a few new locations, here are three that BERGEN is excited to try:
Aurora, Old Tappan. Locals were stunned when the popular Charlie Brown’s chain closed, leaving a void in Old Tappan’s dining landscape. But a new option has finally arrived—Aurora has renovated the old space and is now serving its modern Mediterranean and healthful cuisine to locals. Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, the menu features fresh seafood, premium meats and locally sourced ingredients. Pizza and pasta lovers can also feast on selections like Greek sausage pizza and lobster fettuccine.

German Doner Kebab, East Rutherford. Doner kebabs are to Germany what burgers are to America. Now the world’s top doner kebab chain has opened its first U.S. location—at the American Dream mall! Fast-casual eatery German Doner Kebab is renowned for this iconic Turkish dish that resembles a gyro. GBK stuffs its special pitas with lean beef or chicken, fresh veggies, spices and a game-changing “secret sauce.” (It serves burgers and fries too.).

La Cambusa, Wyckoff. A familiar name in the North Jersey dining scene is back in Bergen: La Cambusa, the newest eatery from the Parlato family, is now open in Wyckoff. The restaurant specializes in southern Italian cooking, including mouthwatering grilled octopus and garlic shrimp starters, homemade lobster ravioli and tagliolini with crabmeat pasta dishes, and whole branzino and chicken rollatini entrées.
