Puppy Love

The Burmeisters planned only to make a donation when they visited Homeward Bound, an adoption center run by the Monmouth County SPCA. “We were grieving the loss of our 20-year-old dachshund,” explains Diane. “We weren’t looking to adopt.” But such was the charm of 8-week-old Maggy that they left that day with a new family member. “Fred picked her up, looked at her cute face and said, ‘This is the one,’” recalls Diane. “Maggy melts our hearts every day.”
