Raise A Glass: 7 Spots To Celebrate Cinco De Mayo
Celebrate with margaritas, quesadillas, nachos and more at these Mexican restaurants in Bergen County.

When you unwind during next Thursday’s happy hour, the vibe will be a little more festive than the usual outing for apps and drinks. After two years of scaled-down get-togethers, Cinco de Mayo celebrations are back in full swing, and everyone is invited to feast on festive snacks like quesadillas and tacos and toast with their favorite margaritas.
Gather your group or take your significant other to one of Bergen County’s many Mexican restaurants to join the fiesta. Below are some of our favorite locales to order a quesadilla and a marg—though sangria or paloma work well too! Perhaps you’ll find that lost shaker of salt while you’re there:
Agave Cocina Mexicana, Wallington. The regular margaritas here are top-notch, but flavored varieties are a must-try as well. We love the guava and the mango margs, but don’t just settle for one: You can order them by flight as well!
*32 Locust Ave., Wallington, 973.246.8531
Casual Habana Café, Hackensack, New Milford. This Cuban restaurant dishes out tasty apps and entrées (empanadas, anyone?), but the margaritas and mojitos are just as good.
*125 Main St., Hackensack, 201.880.9844; 200 Main St., New Milford, 201.575.0400
Jalapeños Mexican Grill, Glen Rock. A favorite among locals, this neighborhood restaurant is popular for family events as well as large Cinco de Mayo parties. Their signature margaritas are second to none!
*930 Prospect St., Glen Rock, 201.445,5566
Lolita’s Mexican Cantina, Westwood. Boasting a menu with both traditional and modern takes on Mexican dishes, this eatery has something for everyone. Driving for the night? Skip the cocktail and try one of the popular Mexican sodas instead.
*65 Old Hook Rd., Westwood, 201.943.6366
Sedona Taphouse, Cliffside Park. This restaurant has formal happy hour on Tuesdays, but their palomas and their margaritas (try the prickly pear flavor) are popular everyday—especially on Cinco de Mayo!
*679 Anderson Ave., Cliffside Park, 201.943.2300
Sol Restaurant, Woodcliff Lake. Pair happy hour staples like nachos and quesadillas with a margarita or cold sangria, but you can always stick around for assorted chicken and seafood entrées.
*42 Kinderkamack Rd., Woodcliff Lake, 201.746.9363
Viva Margarita, Cliffside Park, Edgewater, Hackensack, Wallington. This local chain lives up to its name, serving up tasty margaritas, mojitos, sangrias and more. Make it a flavor fest with delicious mouth-watering tacos and nachos!
