Raising Awareness Through Movies

The Teaneck International Film Festival returns with great flicks from all over the world.
2 Awareness Movies

The annual Teaneck International Film Festival (TIFF) is back and will present a week-long program of films from around the world. There will also be panel discussions, Q&As and much more.

Once dubbed “the film festival with a social conscience,” the event “has a permanent theme: ‘activism: making change’,” says Teaneck resident and Executive Director Jeremy Lentz. “We screen art that calls on people to be change agents. I think film is the most powerful medium we have to do that.”

What does TIFF have in store this year? Lentz in particular recommends the 8 p.m. centerpiece film on Nov. 8: Bea Arthur: The Documentary, which dives into the life and work of “Everyone’s favorite Golden Girl,” according to Lentz.

Here are more of the movies you can stop by—check the website for full descriptions, talk-backs/Q&As and content warnings. If you have the movie bug yourself, consider the “filmmaker bootcamp” being offered at Fairleigh Dickinson University on Wednesday, Nov. 11—RSVP online.
