Summer Sales To Check Out Now

Christmas in July is centered around gatherings and entertainment, but let’s face it: We love the shopping. You don’t have to wait for Labor Day to take advantage of markdowns and clearance events, as there are dozens of summer sales happening now.

As retailers are making room for fall inventory, August is the time of year to stock up on summer clothing and swimwear (it’s still beach season, folks), says U.S. News & World Report. It’s also the right time to beat the back-to-school rush and start picking up supplies likes notebooks, lunch boxes and laptops.

Here are a few stores holding mid-summer sales and specials:

Clothing and Apparel

  • Forever 21: An online-only sale is happening now, featuring hip styles for both women and men at 20 percent off.
  • Old Navy: Need to stock up on jeans? Select denim is on sale here starting at $19 for adults and $14 for children.
  • Nordstrom: Select women’s and men’s items are on sale through Aug. 6 as part of the department store’s anniversary sale.

Home and Hardware

  • Backyard Living: This Ridgewood store has started its summer sale, with 50 percent off in-stock items like patio seats and outdoor dining sets.
  • Fortunoff Backyard Store: Sales and clearance items include outdoor seating, chaise lounges, cushions and décor items. Expect to find items 10 to 25 percent off regular price.
  • Home Depot: Find deep discounts on patio furniture, ceiling fans and garden tools. You’re still entertaining and harvesting in your backyard, so some of these items may come in handy.

School Supplies

  • Staples: Items like notebooks, composition books and crayons are on sale for as low as 50 cents, while some bigger ticket items such as select laptops are discounted by as much as 30 percent off.
  • Target: Teachers and school staff get 20 percent off of one item through Aug. 26. For moms and dads, kids’ backpacks are on sale starting for as low as $7.49.
  • Walmart: Essentials like notebooks, binders, filler paper, pens and more are already on shelves and on sale.
