There are few better ways to spend a summer evening than enjoying a concert, theater performance or movie under the stars. Bring a blanket or some chairs, perhaps drinks and snacks too, and check out these free outdoor entertainment opportunities throughout the county.

Fort Lee and Hackensack

The Hudson Shakespeare Company presents Arden of Faversham at Monument Park in Fort Lee, 7:30 p.m. July 14 and 21, and at Staib Park in Hackensack at 7:30 p.m., July 15 and 22. Hamlet is scheduled for August. Head to facebook.com/hudsonshakespearecompany for dates.

Lyndhurst

Summer Concerts at Town Hall Park take place July 8 through 11 at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Acts include Time Machine “Big Shot” Billy Joel tribute, “Night Fever” Bee Gees tribute and “Abba Mania” Abba tribute. Take the kids to see Movies Under the Stars at Town Hall Park on July 22 (Big Hero 6) and August 5 (The Wizard of Oz), starting at dusk. Go to lyndhurstnj.org for more info.

Ridgewood

For 57 years locals have been enjoying Entertainment Under the Stars at Kasschau Memorial Shell on Veterans Field. Concerts take place July through August at 8:30 p.m. Acts range from rock to reggae, country to calypso, and just about everything in between. You’ll find the details at ridgewoodnj.net.

Westwood

Veterans Memorial Park is the setting for Summer Movies in the Park in August at 8 p.m. The kid-friendly lineup includes Frozen, Grease, Paddington and Field of Dreams. Check out westwoodnj.gov for further info.
