It might be winter, but the time is right to enjoy the great outdoors. Head to one of Bergen County’s nature centers this season and enjoy a full slate of cold-weather activities or a relaxing walk in the woods.

Check out the nightlife during the Tenafly Nature Center’s family-friendly Full Moon Hike and Owl Prowl, offered in January and February. Visit tenaflynaturecenter.org for additional information.

A walk through the Flat Rock Brook Nature Center in Englewood after a snowfall will reveal an assortment of animal tracks. Follow them and you might spot white-tailed deer, red fox, coyote and other mammals and birds. Visit flatrockbrook.org for more details.

For something celestial, visit the William D. McDowell Observatoryin Lyndhurst. During the free public viewings held each Wednesday this winter, use the research-grade telescope for a closer look at planets, constellations and other space objects. Find out more at rst2.org/mec.
