Most people are aware of the cancer-fighting antioxidants in tea, “but there are teas for many different aspects of health,” says Kim Widener, owner of the trendy tea and coffee shop Novel Teas in Red Bank (732.747.8800, novelteas.org). “There are teas that will calm you, teas that help you lose weight, teas for just about everything.” Here you can enjoy your potion of choice while taking in a live music performance or a book discussion, things Novel Teas is known for, and the experience is nothing short of soothing. “It’s a really beautiful and tranquil place,” says customer Olivia Mullen of Middletown. “The atmosphere is so inviting, I come in every day!” Novel Teas offers more than 65 different teas, ranging from the popular dragon pearl jasmine to the kid-friendly bubble gum. Traditional high tea with finger sandwiches, scones and sweets is served on weekends between 3 and 5 p.m. “There’s something for everyone,” says Widener.
