Ready to squeeze a little more fun out of summer? Bergen County is packed with ways to get out, get moving and make some memories this weekend, with plenty happening for kids, grown-ups and everyone in between.

Whether you’re looking for live music, outdoor adventures, family-friendly fun, arts and culture or just a good excuse to get out of the house, there’s something on the calendar for you. Grab the crew, invite a friend (or two) and check out our roundup of weekend happenings around the county.

Aug. 21

  • Check out Fair Lawn’s George Frey Theatre as it presents Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition. With dance and vocal arrangements by Peter Howard, the show tells the classic tale of Dorothy and her loyal companion Toto as they journey through the Land of Oz determined to reach the Wizard of Oz, who’ll help them get home. Show times are at 6 and 8 p.m.
  • Pack your chairs, blankets, a few snacks and your favorite film fanatics and head over to Van Saun County Park in Paramus for Movies After Dark. The county’s latest outdoor movie screening is Zootopia 2, a family-friendly animated film. The movie begins at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Aug. 21–23

  • Funnyman Kev Herrera will headline five shows over three nights at Bananas Comedy Club in Rutherford. The New York native and social media star (1.8 million TikTok fans and 1 million Instagram followers) performs skits about relationships, parenting and everyday life. He is the creator of The Mugged Off Podcast and the founder of the Life After Death Foundation, which brings comedy into correctional facilities as a tool for healing and rehabilitation through laughter and stand-up. Aug. 22

  • Swing by Wyckoff and pick your favorite flowers at the Abma’s Farm charity event, U-Pick Flower Fundraiser, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Held in memory of Jim Abma, the program allows visitors to stroll through the blooms, enjoy fun photo ops and create a custom bouquet to take home. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Be Still and Know, a nonprofit that supports cancer patients and their caregivers. Purchase tickets online.
  • Start your day with a good stretch and fresh air during Yoga on the Farm, hosted by Stokes Farm in Old Tappan. The one-hour session, which starts at 9:30 a.m., will be led by Where We Flow Yoga Collective and is open to all experience levels. Sign up online.
  • Head to Fresh Roots Farm in Mahwah and enjoy the annual Farm Feast, a fundraiser presented by MEVO (Mahwah Environmental Volunteers Organization). From 5:30 to 9 p.m., you can participate in a farm-to-table dinner and silent auction while soaking up the bluegrass sounds of Blue Plate Special.
  • If you love nature and baseball, you won’t mind the short drive from Bergen County to Clover Stadium in Pomona, N.Y. There, you can watch the New York Boulders minor baseball team take on the Brockton Rox, a charity event that raises money for the Closter Nature Center. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and a fireworks show will take place after the game. Tickets are available online.

Aug. 23

  • Discover your next treasure at the Fall Craft Show & Antique & Gift Corner, happening at Veterans Memorial Park in Westwood. Stop by from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and browse more than 125 exhibitors while enjoying festival food and desserts.
  • Help beautify Garretson Forge & Farm in Fair Lawn on Garden Volunteer Day, taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Work alongside Master Gardeners in the organic gardens while learning to sow, transplant, harvest and preserve open-pollinated vegetables and herbs.
  • Enjoy an evening Paint and Sip session at the Demarest Farms petting zoo. From 5 to 7 p.m., visitors can paint highland cows with watercolors during a class led by John Monton and Jennifer Randall. Tickets are available online, and the event is BYO.
  • Find out all you need to know about flying mammals during Bat-Tastic at Teaneck Creek Conservancy. New Jersey’s Bat-man, Joseph D’Angeli, will lead a 7 p.m. bat walk through Teaneck Creek. The event is intended for ages 7 and older. Registration is required.
  • End the weekend with the rockin’ sounds of KoverUp, which is performing at Fair Lawn’s Summer Concert Series in Memorial Park. The 8 p.m. show features the Dumont-based band, which performs classic hits from decades past.
