Last weekend’s sunny skies were a reminder that beautiful weather is on its way—we just have to endure a couple more weeks of winter. Now that we got a taste of gorgeous days, however, many of us are already thinking about getting out and playing a round or two of golf. Some good news:

Opening day for all Bergen County public golf courses is set for March 11—or sooner, as long as Mother Nature cooperates.

If you haven’t thought about your game and kept your clubs stashed away since fall, here’s what to expect this season when you’re ready to get back in the swing of things.

In-person registration and renewals can be done at Overpeck Golf Course from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration forms are available on the county website. If you signed up in 2023, your registration has expired and must be renewed.

Returnees should note that golf fees have increased this year: $60 for adults ages 18 to 61; $45 for seniors, juniors (17 and under), veterans and active-duty military; $100 for non-residents.

The weekly maintenance schedule has been released for 2024. All 18-hole golf courses will have a delayed opening on scheduled weekly maintenance days, while Back-Nine play will not be available on maintenance day. The schedule is as follows:

  • Monday: Orchard Hills and Soldier Hill
  • Tuesday: Darlington and Overpeck
  • Wednesday: Valley Brook and Rockleigh Blue
  • Thursday: Rockleigh Red and White

The first tee time on opening day, March 11, is 8 a.m. Updated seasonal start times can be found here. For more information, contact the courses directly:
