Where To Play Pickleball Inside This Winter

Cold and snow won’t get in the way of your games at these indoor courts.

Spectator sports are great, but now’s the time of year—post Super Bowl and a couple of months before baseball starts—when we have our own itch to get competitive. And America’s fastest growing sport, pickleball, is a game that many of us either want to play or learn to play.

There’s a problem, though: It’s freezing outside, and the county’s outdoor pickleball courts are covered with snow.

Don’t fret, pickleballers! Bergen is home to a plethora of indoor pickleball courts, where the climate’s controlled so you can hit and dink all year long, whether it’s hot, cold, sunny or snowy. Check out one or more of the facilities below to start playing. Remember to click on each link for times and reservation information.

• Bergen County Pickleball Club in Tenafly has four state-of-the-art courts, a pro shop, an observation lounge and more. Hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
• Bergen Pickleball Zone in Ramsey is available for open play, lessons or a clinic. Six dedicated pickleball courts are available for use for drop-in play, clinics and lessons. Courts are open from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays; from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays; from  8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays; and from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
• Hudson River Pickleball in Englewood has seven courts for lessons, leagues, open play and events. They also host regular tournaments so you can show off your skills and compete for bragging rights.
• Montclair Pickleball Club, despite its name, is located in Fair Lawn. It’s open for clinics and open play; check the website for times.
• Prestige Pickleball Club in Northvale has five regulation courts, a practice area, lounges for spectators, party rooms, a pro shop and more. The center is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
