Duke, Yorkshire terrier, age 14

How we met: “One day when my husband was on a golfing trip, my daughter talked me into looking at puppies in a pet store. When Duke ran to me and started to cough, I melted. I put him right on my credit card.”

Dressing up: “I like to buy Duke costumes for the holidays. He’s been Batman and a leprechaun for Halloween, and he loves wearing his Santa outfit on Christmas.”

On the town: “I often carry Duke in a big pocketbook and take him shopping with me. Although he’s usually very quiet, he’ll bark and growl if anyone comes near our car in the lot.”
